Framer + Shopify + Frameship

A Geneva glass studio with no buy button, now selling in 41 countries from a Framer Shopify store.

Tavolini makes hand-blown Murano glass side tables in Geneva, but until this year its website couldn't sell a single one. Every order went through the showroom or an email thread, which made it hard to reach the private buyers and architects in Europe and the US who wanted the pieces. A new Framer site built on Shopify with Frameship changed that in 11 days.

A Shopify store with no way to buy

Tavolini is devoted to one object, the small table, explored as a sculptural piece and blown by hand on the island of Murano. The studio already had a Shopify store, but its theme had no buy button. The site worked more like a brochure than a shop, and every sale depended on someone visiting the showroom or sending an email. New editions are released throughout the year in small runs, and no two pieces are quite the same in colour or form, so every listing needed to feel like a gallery piece rather than a product tile.

"They needed a site that presented the pieces properly and let them sell online to private buyers and architects in Europe and the US." – Camille Haidar, Framer designer

A standard Shopify theme couldn't give luminous, one-off glass the presentation it deserved. Starting again on a new platform wasn't appealing either, because the catalog, tags and product data already lived in Shopify. Tavolini needed a proper brand site on top of the store it already had.

Keep Shopify, rebuild the front end in Framer

The answer was to design the site in Framer and keep Shopify running products, orders and checkout. Frameship connects Shopify to Framer, so the team didn't have to choose between a beautiful site and a working store.

Frameship is a plugin that connects Shopify to Framer. Once installed, your Shopify products sync directly into Framer CMS. You then design your store pages in Framer as you normally would, dropping in Frameship's pre-built ecommerce components wherever you need them, each one customisable, with the Shopify connection already built in.

An 11-day build

After an audit of the old site and a kickoff call, Tavolini's designer built every page in Framer and connected Frameship to the existing Shopify catalog.

"I built the pages in Framer and connected Frameship to their existing Shopify catalog, so no products had to be re-entered." – Camille Haidar, Framer designer

The shop, the Series I, II and III collections and each product page use Frameship's product, collection and cart components. Each component is a visual design element dropped into Framer and styled to match the studio's look, with the Shopify connection already built in. Products sync from Shopify into Framer CMS, so the pages always reflect what's in the store.

"On Shopify, I set up markets (USD and EUR, 41 countries) and cleaned up the tags." – Camille Haidar, Framer designer

Made-to-order pieces use a Shopify tag that changes how the product page displays, so commissioned work and in-stock tables sit side by side without any custom code.
